The Quality Use of Medicines report (QUM) provides non- reporting options that can assist the clinical team to meet certain standards
The options available on this page are Antimicrobial and Psychotropics reports.
Antimicrobials
The Antimicrobial report will assist you to demonstrate that Antimicrobial Stewardship is actively promoted. You will need to set the parameters to run the report.
- Click on the Antimicrobial button
- Then select the relevant Quarter (1-4)
- Then select the year
The report immediately shows the residents that have had Antimicrobials prescribed.
To the right the number of Antimicrobials for this quarter displays and numerically compares this number to the previous quarter.
If you have more than one facility the total of Antimicrobials prescribed across all facilities displays and compares this to the previous quarter.
For a more detailed view a graph displays with all quarters plotted, and hovering over the plotted graph will provide further details. Again, the graph will display Q1–Q4 for the year selected and the previous year.
The report is quantitative and monitors the use of Antimicrobials over a period of time. Ideally, there will be no spiked increases in the data. This report provides you the opportunity to consult with Pharmacists or Prescribers to see if an increase is apparent for one or multiple antimicrobials, and to analyse the potential causes and remedies.
Psychotropics
The Psychotropics report is run in the same manner.
- Select the Psychotropics button
- Select the Quarter (Q1-Q4)
- Then select the Year
Residents that have been prescribed psychotropics display on the left, with the start and stop date visible.
To the right the numerical value of psychotropics for the current and multiple facilities display and this compares the value to the previous quarter.
The plotted graph displays the current number of psychotropics and compares this number to the same quarter the previous year. Hover over the plotted graph to display results.
The report does not need to be saved as it can be re-run and accessed at any time.
