How do I create the global NIM (Nurse Initiated Medications) List?

The NIM List can be created/edited by Clinical or Facility Managers. These medications have been pre-approved for your facility for Nurse Initiated administration

The global NIMs (Nurse Initiated Medication) list will be configured for you as part of the StrongCare onboarding process, however, you may occasionally need to maintain this list.

  1. To maintain the Nurse Initiated Medications, click on the NIM List
  2. Then select the Create/Edit NIM List tab

  1. The first step is to use the dropdown arrow to select the facility that this NIM List applies to
  2. Then click on the Facility name

If any NIMs have been created, they will appear here.

To add a new NIM

  1. Click the Add New Medication button
  2. Begin typing the medication into the search field
  3. Use the dropdown arrow to select the correct medication
  4. Enter the Dosage into the field
  5. Use the dropdown arrow to select the Dose Unit
  6. Use the dropdown arrow to select the Route
  7. Use the dropdown arrow to select the Frequency
  8. Enter the Max Dose into the field
  9. Expand the arrow next to the medication to add details
  10. Type the Indication into the search field
  11. Enter any Contraindications or Instructions into the field
  12. Then scroll down the page
  13. Click the Save Item button
  14. The NIM List has been saved. Click the Close Button
  15. Then click Save List
  16. Click Close

To add a new Nurse Initiated Medication, simply repeat the process.

To delete a Medication

  • To delete a Medication return to the Medication and activate the arrow

  • Click Delete Item
  • Then click Close

If Nurse Initiated Medications are required for the resident, the linked Prescriber will need to add this to the resident’s medication chart.
